Cadwork develops and distributes 3D-CAD/CAM solutions.
The software is designed for professional use in the timber construction and general building sectors.
The need to comply with the practical requirements of our customers and collaboration with various research institutes reflect our central interest in development.
Our aim is to produce products that are easy to use for increasingly complex functions. As a result, cadwork has become
the benchmark 3D CAD/CAM solutions for wood construction.
Our services also include other activities alongside distribution , covering key areas such as technical support, the development of working methods specific to customer needs, and advice on technical issues relating to construction.
The image of our company is very representative of our employees in the field. Our team is essentially made up of professionals in the wood trades (joiners, carpenters, technicians, engineers, etc.). Above all, we’re passionate about wood, and we’re here to advise and guide you, to offer you a top-quality product, and to ensure that you enjoy maximum skill and efficiency afterwards.
In the 1980s, Yves Depeursinge, project manager at LSRH/CSEM in Neuchâtel (CH), a research division of the watch industry, came up with the basic concept and outline of the software, as well as its name "Cadwork".
A few years later, in 1984, Yves Depeursinge joined the engineering firm Bonnard & Gardel in Lausanne and, knowing that the new CSEM was no longer interested in this product, sold the rights to it to Bonnard & Gardel, which became involved in the project and introduced a further development in the construction field.
Mr Depeursinge, in collaboration with Michel Jecker, was involved in the first concrete application: the gateway to the A9 motorway at St-Maurice in Switzerland.
Natterer from EPFL, as part of a federal CERS/CTI research programme carried out at the EPF Lausanne timber construction chair, the cadwork CAD system has been adapted for wood construction.
Once the research programme was completed, in 1988, the former EPFL group consisting of Andreas Walther and Jean-Philippe Eschbach decided to join forces and set up their own company, Cadwork informatique CI SA, currently based in Basel (CH), and bought the rights to the cadwork programme.
With the creation of cadwork informatik Software GmbH, Hildesheim (D) in 1992, a second development centre was created, dedicated primarily to the needs of the timber construction industry. Other cadwork modules will continue to be created and developed by Cadwork informatik SA in Lausanne.
